1. What is Vibhuti?
Vibhuti is the ash that remains after burning of all the ingredients that are put in to a fire ritual or Homa. The holy ingredients include darbha grass, spices, coconut, chunks of wood from parrot tree, tulasi plant, peepal tree or sacred fig, chunks of dried cow dung, nine types of grains etc. Devotees of Lord Shiva must wear Vibhuti, the holy ash.
