Gautamiputra Satakarni was a great emperor of South India and who strengthened Satavahana dynasty in Andhra Pradesh.

He was the successor of the founders of Satavahana dynasty in South India, preferably Andhra region.

Simukha is said to be the founder of Satavahana Dynasty and then Sri Satakarni came to the throne after the demise of Simukha.
