2. What are the types of Shankha?
Mainly there are three types of Shankha or Conch, as per the size and shape
- Dakshinavruta Shankham – Used only at the time of religious rituals
- Uttaravruta Shankham – Used to blow at the time of various auspicious ceremonies
- Madhyavruta Shankham – The conch which can be held with right hand
Conchs or Shankhas which are broken, cracked, thin and with harsh outer core are not qualified for rituals or to possess.
