Why do we celebrate Pushkar Fair and who is Pushkarudu?

According to Epics, pushkarudu is called with different names like Rain God, Great virtue man, Teertham, and lake in various places.

Lord Brahma Created Pushkarudu, also few Puranas refer as Lord Brahma went through Meditation for
Lord Shiva.

Pushkarudu is also known as Teertha Raja. All Rivers in the world lost their sacredness as everybody goes for a bath in it. Pushkarudu used to feel bad about it.

One day during Meditation to Lord Shiva, Pushkarudu requested a solution for this to clean all the un-sacredness of rivers.

Jala avatar is one of the eight avatars of Lord Shiva. He requested Lord Shiva to present him that Avatar.

Due to this, he obtained a lot of Power.

He got a Power to remove the un-sacredness in Rivers. That is the reason why all rivers requested Psuhkarudu to live in them.

After that, all the arrangements are made so that Pushkarudu can stay in 12rivers. This is said by on the Wandering of Guru Guru Bruhaspathi.

When gurudu wanders in 12 different zodiac signs, pushkarudu will stay in those rivers depending on the zodiac signs like vrushabha Rashi, Mesha Rashi…etc. So for every 12 years, Pushkar fair occurs for every 12years. Therefore, by the fallowing mantra occurrence of Pushkar fair is decided.
